HeidelbergCement is one of the largest German investors in Romania, with activities in the production of cement, ready mixed concrete and aggregates, through the companies Carpatcement, Carpat Beton and Carpat Agragate.

In 1998, HeidelbergCement acquired its first Romanian cement plant, Moldocim Bicaz, situated in the northeastern part of the country.  In 2000, HeidelbergCement acquired a majority stake in the cement plant Casial Deva, located 400 km northwest of Bucharest. In October 2002, HeidelbergCement became the majority shareholder in the company Tagrimpex Romcif Fieni (Romcif SA), which operates one cement plant in the proximity of the capital Bucharest. With this acquisition, HeidelbergCement became the cement market leader in Romania.

All HeidelbergCement activities in Romania are managed by the company Carpatcement Romania SRL, located in Bucharest, and the cement produced by all three plants is sold under the "Carpatcement" brand.

HeidelbergCement's ready mixed concrete activities in Romania began in 1998. Carpat Beton, the holding company, now operates eight RMC plants, located in Bucharest, Timisoara, Ploiesti, Iasi, Brasov, Pitesti and Bacau.  Through a combination of the latest technology, competitive production technique and excellent logistics, Carpat Beton is the RMC leader on the Romanian market.

The aggregates division of HeidelbergCement in Romania Carpat Agregate now operates 14 plants in the south - central part of the country, with a strong focus on the Bucharest market. The company is market leader in the production of aggregates, focused on products related to cement business.
